Using the Shoptagr App to save my shopping list!
With Black Friday and Cyber Monday only 2 weeks away, and the holidays just around the corner, I thought now would be the perfect time to share my favorite money saving tips for holiday gift shopping, whether you’re shopping for yourself or for someone else! Click through to see my shopping secrets for making the most of Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales on a budget!
1. Make a Shopping List and Stick With It
The starting point for holiday any shopping should always be a list. Make a list of what you need, whom you need to buy gifts for, and set a budget for each! If you’re buying gifts, this is also a great place to jot down present ideas, notes on where to buy, etc. As you’re shopping, keep this list on hand and make sure you stick to your budget!
2. Use Technology to Your Advantage
I recently downloaded Shoptagr, a free web tool that lets you save and track your favorite items from over 700+ online retailers, including Net-A-Porter, ASOS, Target, and so many more. You can select an item’s size and color, save it to a Shoptagr list, the app alerts you when the price drops to your specified discount, including if coupon codes are applied! All you have to do is sign up online and install the browser button (it only takes a second), and then shop websites as you normally would. When you find something you want to add to your shopping list, just click the browser button!
After you click the browser bookmark, the Shoptagr popup allows you to customize what discount level you want to be notified at and which list you want to save the item to. Once the price drops, you’ll be notified of the sale! Similarly, if an item is out of stock, you can also save the item to your lists to be notified when it comes back into stock.
You can also easily categorize the items into Pinterest-style boards, making holiday shopping even easier! I currently have one list for family and friends, and another for my coworkers! If you want to help your friends and family pick your gifts, you can also create and share your own wish list with them. If you do more of your shopping on your phone, Shoptagr also has a mobile app so you can save items on the go!
I’m already scouting the new-in sections of my favorite sites, including ASOS, BaubleBar, and Sephora, and saving my faves to my wish list, so I know as soon as they go on sale! 🙂
Also make sure you hang onto your receipts–while most retailers are able to pull up transactions with your credit cards now, better safe than sorry!
5. Balance Value with Sentiment
Fancy, expensive gifts are always fun to receive, but the ones we remember the most are the thoughtful ones! Please remember that you don’t need to spend a ton of money to make someone happy. There are tons of under-$10 gifts that can show someone you love them! Think personalized gifts, handwritten cards, DIY projects, of even homemade baked goodies. Nothing says “I love you” like a batch of brownies! 🙂
Huge thank you to Shoptagr for sponsoring this post! As always, all statements and opinions are my own. Thank you for supporting the companies that support this little blog of mine!
